Our Standards
We take hygiene EXTREMELY seriously at Newport Float. Our Float Lab®️ tanks are engineered with cleanliness in mind and built to NSF-50 standards for sanitation and safety. Our meticulous stages of disinfection and filtration are certified to produce a minimum 3-Log kill (99.9%) of pathogenic organisms (bacteria, viruses, mold, yeast, etc.) without the use of toxic halogen chemicals.
Additionally, the large amount of Epsom salt acts as a natural disinfectant to maintain a bacteria-free environment. We worry, so you don’t have to. Besides the water, the air is constantly filtered and purified, and the walls are regularly cleaned.

FAQ
What is a flotation chamber?
Our chambers provide a light and sound free environment containing 12” solution of water and about 1,000 lbs. of dissolved Epsom salt (a.k.a. magnesium sulfate). The water is heated to skin temperature (about 94 degrees). The individual floats effortlessly with neither sound or light inputs.
How large is the tank?
It is 4’-5’ wide, 8’ long and 7’ high. Taller individuals are advised to book our front white or back white tanks as they are larger.
Can two people float in one tank?
No, it’s intended to be a private experience with enough space to fit one comfortably without bumping into the walls.
What do I wear while floating?
You can wear absolutely anything and nothing.
Do I shower before using the chamber?
Yes. It’s extremely important to shower before using the tank to help keep it clean. The natural oils and perfumes of the body will diminish the quality of your float. You will also need to shower after to remove the Epsom salt from your skin and hair.
How long does a session last?
60 minutes.
Will I float easily?
Yes, it’s impossible to stay underwater due to the buoyancy of the 1000 pounds of Epsom salt. Your eyes, nose and mouth will stay fully exposed.
Can I fall asleep in the tank?
Yes, many people safely fall asleep in the tank. The special float accessories such as the neck assist floaties and the light orbs will help.
What happens if salt gets in my eyes?
We provide a bottle of salt free water to rinse your eyes should you accidentally get salt water in them. It’s important to keep your hands away from your eyes. In addition, earplugs are provided to keep salt out of your ears.
Is anyone unable to use the tank?
People with infectious diseases and those who are epileptic (and not on controlling medication) should avoid using the tank.
Will I feel claustrophobic?
The tank is large enough to stand up in, and you can exit the chamber at any time. There is no locking mechanism on the tank so any person inside will be able to open the door.
Is there an age limit to float?
If you are under 18 years old, you will need your parent’s permission.
Can pregnant women float?
Yes. Floating while pregnant helps to relieve some muscle and joint pain during pregnancy. Pregnant women have reported a reduction of erratic movements of the baby inside the womb while floating. This may be due to the security felt by the baby while the mother shares a similar experience in the isolation tank.
